‘Muddy Fingers’ McGurn

Anna McGurn likes nothing better than digging her hands into the rich, deep clay in County Fermanagh’s lakeland – hence the nameplate “Muddy Fingers” McGurn outside her pottery studio.   Neighbouring farmer, Roger Corrigan, says: “Fermanagh clay is a curse, particularly after the wet winter we’ve had.  It has tormented the farmers around here for centuries.”   Interesting then, to see how Anna and Roger got on when they were paired together in a project to explore the common ground between farmers and artists and to highlight shared farming and environmental interests.
