Catholic parishioners on the remote Moidart peninsula, in the West of Scotland, are dismayed at the theft of a medieval hand bell from the ancient religious site of St. Finan’s Isle on Loch Shiel. The theft occurred as the congregation celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Moidart Mission when a young priest was sent by Rome to re-establish the church after decades of repression under the Penal Laws. The report begins with a boat trip out to St. Finan’s Isle.
